Al Volo Restaurant

The Al Volo project brings together a café, pizzeria, and outdoor lounge within a coordinated architectural and interior design concept. Occupying the ground floor, the venue combines the practical requirements of everyday service with a welcoming atmosphere, offering spaces for both a quick stop and a more relaxed dining experience.

The façade is characterized by large glazed openings framed by textured masonry, establishing a direct visual relationship between the interior and the entrance forecourt. A circular illuminated sign identifies the venue, while linear lighting beneath the projecting balcony emphasizes the horizontal composition of the frontage. Different paving textures distinguish the parking area from the pedestrian space, which extends along the façade and connects the entrance to the outdoor lounge.

The interior layout establishes a clear relationship between the service counter, the dining area, and the supporting facilities. Seating is organized through a combination of elongated tables with matching benches, smaller table settings, and individual stools, accommodating different ways of using the space. A recessed niche with a wooden ledge provides an additional seating area, introducing a more intimate setting within the open interior.

The service counter acts as a focal point, combining a clean white volume with an integrated illuminated food display. A warm-toned inset punctuates its front, while slender white shelves extend across the olive-green wall behind it. Bottles and displayed products contribute to the composition, bringing colour and rhythm to the service area.

The interior design is defined by the relationship between olive green, warm neutral surfaces, and the expressive grain of wood. Green walls provide a continuous visual backdrop to the dining and service areas, giving the venue a distinctive identity while complementing the planting distributed throughout the space. The lighter surrounding surfaces maintain a sense of openness, while dark veined finishes introduce depth and contrast at selected points.

Lighting plays an integral role in the architectural composition. Broad geometric recesses articulate the ceiling, with concealed linear lighting tracing their contours and emphasizing the changes in depth. Recessed spotlights provide more focused illumination, while amber pendant lights above the seating niche introduce a warmer, more intimate scale. The polished, finely speckled floor reflects the ceiling geometry and furnishings, reinforcing the visual continuity of the interior. Daylight entering through the glazed frontage further reveals the textures and tonal variations of the materials.

The outdoor lounge extends the hospitality spaces beneath a white pergola with a slatted roof. Sofas and armchairs in green and neutral tones are arranged around low tables, creating a setting for conversation and relaxation. Planters frame the seating groups and soften the relationship with the adjacent forecourt, while the transparency of the façade maintains a strong connection with the
